Research Technologist



Experience in working in a research environment is necessary. Working independently perform experiments as defined by protocols established by the PI. Develop new procedures and assays as directed by the PI. Familiarity with immunoassays, tissue culture, RTPCR, Western blots, sterile handling of cells, and ability to passage and freeze/thaw cells is essential. Prepare reagents, media, and supplies necessary for assays; maintain inventory. Receive and process samples and keep records of samples that arrive in the laboratory. Be able to handle high throughput assays and serially collected specimens. Operate equipment that is needed for assay performance and be able to provide interpretation of results. Maintain records of all experiments, analyze results and plot graphs as needed. Write reports and discuss results with the PI. Interact and collaborate with the laboratory staff. Assist laboratory personnel in performing in vivo work in mice. Flexibility in performing a variety of different assessments on the same day. Background in biochemistry and immunology would be helpful.


Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions

Performing established assays, handle sample input and log-in, processing of specimens, record assay results, and present results to the PI. Developing and implementing new assays.
