Laboratory Technician - Williamson
Laboratory Technician - Williamson
The Williamson Laboratory studies how brain-wide communication of sensory signals allows for perceptual decision-making and sensory-guided behavior. We focus primarily on the neural circuitry of the auditory system. We are particularly interested in how specific cell-types within the auditory cortex communicate with distinct downstream brain regions, and how this connectivity leads to purposeful behavior. The Laboratory uses a variety of cutting-edge tools to monitor, manipulate, and model, the neural circuits of awake mice - these include two-photon calcium imaging, high-channel count electrophysiology, and fiber photometry (all with optogenetic perturbations), as well as head-fixed behaviors and machine learning/statistical approaches for neural characterization. The technician will contribute to the research carried out by a state-of-the-art systems neuroscience laboratory. The successful applicant will interface with team members to provide general research support across the breadth of the lab, as well as assisting in surgical procedures, managing mouse colonies, and general lab management.Preference will be given to applicants with previous research experience, and experience in any of the following areas: computer programming (Python, MATLAB), statistics, histology, electrophysiology, two-photon microscopy, or engineering.
