Job Description

Mizzou Study Abroad seeks a student-centered, innovative, highly energetic, detail oriented professional to serve as Study Abroad Coordinator.

The Study Abroad Coordinator will serve as the first point of contact for students and their families interested in study abroad opportunities within assigned academic units/departments. The Study Abroad Coordinator will maintain thorough knowledge of MU's portfolio of study abroad opportunities and will advise students in selecting a program that fits their academic, personal, and professional goals.

Duties/responsibilities
  • Program Coordination/Student Advising
  • Coordinates and administers assigned faculty-led, exchange, direct enroll, and affiliated programs. Program administration includes program and budget development, student recruitment and advising, application process and participant selection, enrollment, pre-departure preparation and on-going support.
  • Works with faculty members leading assigned study abroad programs and U.S. and overseas colleagues to manage program logistics.
  • Advises and coordinates programs in assigned geographic region and/or by academic department.
Other
  • Position may require spending 50% of the time in an assigned academic department for student advising, faculty outreach, and recruitment events.
  • Assists Mizzou Abroad senior leadership with strategic collaborative projects.
  • Participates in regional, national and international conferences and evaluative site visits.
  • Participates in projects and committees.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Shift

8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, but will require early morning, evening, and weekend hours at various times during the year given the role's direct work with marketing, outreach and recruitment.

20%-30% of domestic (in state and out of state) travel may be required for collaborative strategic projects.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

  • Experience advising students for study abroad
  • The successful candidate will be an excellent team player and a high achieving individual contributor with a strong internal drive to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excel at multi-tasking by balancing multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong presentations skills with varied sized audiences
  • Experience advising students utilizing a student-centered approach.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, administrative and budgeting skills.
  • International experience through study, work, living or volunteering abroad.
  • Ability to speak more than one language
  • Strong commitment to inclusion, diversity and equity
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting data reports to inform strategic decisions
  • Familiarity with TerraDotta software.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team as well as individually.
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $22.22/hour
