The Self Pay Patient Account Representative works for University Physicians/Patient Accounting Office under the School of Medicine. Review and analysis of patient accounts for billing accuracy and potential placement for further collection activity is central to the position. The ability to learn and understand the complete revenue process at a high level while having the ability to recognize potential processing problems is required. This employee works in no less than 8 different data systems to complete work. The Self Pay Representative is also responsible for the processing of Financial Applications from the public and expected to act with extreme sensitivity when coming in contact with personal information.
Position is eligible for the University Physicians work from home program.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.
Two (2) years of clerical experience; education may be used in lieu of experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in patient accounts, medical office, or bookkeeping.
Effective communication, time management, analytical, and computer skills.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Experience in Microsoft Systems with skills that include Excel, Outlook and Word are essential to the position. The ability to quickly learn and understand new and a variety of software systems is needed and should not be underestimated. The Self Pay Patient Account Representative demonstrates an exceptional positive attitude and is flexible in both the acceptance of work assignment on a given day and continual changes in processing and procedure. The ability to communicate both in written and verbal forms to the community, introductory to executive staff, and legal professionals is required at a higher than average level. This individual must demonstrate the ability to prioritize work, self-motivate, and return to regular work tasks after other assignments are complete. This position is primarily remote and requires sitting for long periods in front of computer screens while being continually available to co-workers and management. Quiet personal home workspace is needed for success. Some Self Pay Team Members may be required to work from the home office located at the Quarter Deck Building for 1 to 2 days per week as assigned. Training is extensive and a Self Pay Patient Account Representative can expect learning of the basic position to take as long as 6 months, with full understanding of the position taking as much as two years. Training will take place in person and virtually as determined by Trainer and Supervisor for up to 6 months.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range:$14.80 - $23.32 Hourly
