Job Summary

The Kentucky Geological Survey at the University of Kentucky is seeking an experienced and talented Web Developer to join our dynamic team through STEPS temporary employment. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining our company's website and web applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Design, develop, and deploy responsive and user-friendly websites and web applications
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks/libraries
  • Integrate front-end components with back-end systems and databases
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
  • Optimize website performance, scalability, and security
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in web development
  • Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one modern JavaScript framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
  • Experience with server-side scripting languages (e.g., Node.js, PHP)
  • Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
  • Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
