Position: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Company: Princeton University

Description: The Krienen Lab (krienenlab.org) at the Princeton Neuroscience Institute is looking for highly motivated candidates for postdoctoral or more senior positions. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary group and perform cutting-edge research on the molecular, cellular, and neurobiological mechanisms of brain evolution, development and/or disorders. The lab (1) develops new tools and approaches to study cell types in non-human primate systems, (2) discovers developmental processes that lead to primate brain specializations, (3) generates multimodal, multiscale whole brain atlases using single cell sequencing approaches, and (4) applies scalable molecular analyses of disease relevant mutations to inform models of human brain function and disorder. Some specific project opportunities include (but are not limited to): (1) a collaborative BRAIN Initiative project to generate complete multiomic atlases of human and NHP brains, (2) a SFARI foundation project to investigate autism risk genes across mammalian models, and (3) using cell type specific regulatory elements to develop viral tools for cell type targeting. We are seeking exceptionally talented candidates with a strong background in molecular biology, developmental biology, neurobiology and/or genomics. Successful applicants will be energetic and organized team players who can maintain independent research projects and have a desire to learn, troubleshoot, and design new experimental or analytical approaches in a collaborative and supportive setting. Applications from members of groups historically under-represented in STEM are encouraged. The term of this appointment is one year, with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory performance and funding. Qualified candidates should have: *PhD in neuroscience, genetics/genomics, molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, computational biology, or related field * Skill in biochemical and/or molecular biological techniques (e.g. protein/DNA/RNA analysis, cell culture, histological analysis of tissue samples, single cell sequencing, genome or viral engineering) * AND/OR experience with developing or applying robust and generalizable computational biology methods (preferably for -omics data) *Excellent communication skills (written and oral) *Strong publication record *Ability to work both independently and collaboratively *Must be able to handle a variety of tasks and to adapt to a highly dynamic environment Interested applicants must apply at https://puwebp.princeton.edu/AcadHire/position/32461 and include a cover letter stating background and professional interests, a CV including all publications, and contact information for two or more referees. These positions are subject tot the University's background check policy. . The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.
