Nebraska Wesleyan University is seeking a full-time Advancement Communications Manager responsible for comprehensive, integrated communication strategies to increase fundraising, numbers of contributors, and to enhance the alumni/donor experience. Successful candidates will have a passion for advancing higher education, understand how to effectively communicate with a variety of audiences, possess excellent writing skills, excel at innovative, strategic communication, and will be committed to achieving excellence, collaboration and inclusive leadership.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates division-wide marketing and communication projects through calendar coordination and internal partnerships.
  • Uses print and digital communication channels to convey to Nebraska Wesleyan's various constituencies (donors, alumni, parents, students, faculty and staff, foundations, community leaders, corporate partners, etc.) the university's fundraising needs and opportunities for engagement.
  • Writes and communicates stories from students, donors, faculty, parents and others to demonstrate the importance and impact of giving to NWU.
  • Creates overall messaging strategies and writes various materials including major gift proposals, web content, e-newsletters, thank-you letters, campaign materials and white papers, and event programs and speeches.
  • Serves as Advancement's liaison to the Marketing, Communications and Public Relations office.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Marketing/Communications or related field.
  • 3+ years of writing and editing experience.
  • Experience in fundraising strongly preferred
  • Must have exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Must have a working knowledge of effective fundraising and donor relations communication strategies.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must possess qualities of teamwork and responsibility and work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, take initiative and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have analytical thinking and strategic planning skills.
  • Familiarity with Nebraska Wesleyan's mission and an understanding of a liberal arts college is preferred
