Maintenance Worker
Job Description
Municipal Housing Agency is looking for a skilled Maintenance worker to perform upkeep tasks such as repairs and cleaning. You will be responsible for applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensure facilities are tidy and functional. Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to getting this job. The ideal candidate will have experience and solid technical knowledge. You must possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.
Responsibilities
- Perform cleaning activities such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping etc.
- Renovate vacated apartments including painting, carpeting, cleaning & repairs
- Perform work orders which include but not limited to minor plumbing, electrical and preventative maintenance
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs & filters
- Install appliances and equipment
- Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems to insure operation & reliability
- Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
- Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
- Report to maintenance foreman for issues
- Respond to rotating afterhours emergency calls for maintenance problems
- Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Foreman or Executive Director
Skills
- Proven experience as a maintenance worker
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
- Experience using standard custodial and grounds keeping equipment
- Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Physical stamina and dexterity
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
Minimum Qualifications
- At least three (3) years of verifiable custodial and grounds keeping experience
- Must understand and follow OSHA and Agency safety procedures
- Ability to work well either alone or as apart of a team
- Must have a valid drivers license
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
