Manufacturing Engineer - Pharmaceutical

A small family-owned pharmaceutical company is seeking an Automation Engineer. The company, located in a small Midwest town in Iowa, is a well-established manufacturer and marketer of nutritional and pharmaceutical products. Operations are currently certified for both animal and human products. This company is located approximately 1 hour from Omaha, NE, and 2 hours from Kansas City, MO.

This position is responsible for planning, directing and execution/coordinating automation engineering systems, including manufacturing and processing equipment. This position will help design, develop and implement software/hardware changes to existing automated systems.

The applicant must possess a professional degree in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or similar) with 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing and automation engineering with preference given to experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.

  • This applicant should have hands-on experience with process control systems and experience in the maintenance and design of process control systems.
  • This applicant will be responsible for keeping our process controls and manufacturing lines running at peak efficiency.
  • The successful applicant must have a keen knowledge of safety principles and practices related to the use of manufacturing equipment, hazards and safety practices necessary to the operation in the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, cGMP guidelines, and FDA regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial pharmaceutical machinery, proficiency in robotics and CNC programming, experience with tooling design and CAM programming is preferable.
  • The Automation Engineer must have effective communication, technical and management skills.
  • They will be proficient in reading and understanding mechanical and electrical system blueprints and technical schematics, electrical and system problems as well as have the ability to exercise good judgment, flexibility, creativity and sensitivity in response to manufacturing needs.

Remuneration is negotiable and based on qualifications and experience.
