Description:
Heartland AEA has a full-time Senior Payroll Specialist position available at our Johnston office. This position will be year-round offering a hybrid office schedule. The Senior Payroll Specialist will be responsible for all payroll functions including accurate and timely pay that is in compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, collaborating with IT on the implementation of payroll system requirements and partnering with business colleagues to implement and achieve goals and strategy.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 5 years comprehensive payroll experience, preferably in a comparable public agency, with at least 3 years’ experience managing and leading all facets of the payroll function is required for this position, as well as strong working knowledge of accounting principles, human resource policies and procedures, and benefits. Prefer candidates with a CPP Certification, experience with BusinessPlus, and a bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting. Knowledge and expertise of the principles, practices and laws pertaining to payroll processing, payroll taxes, W-2's, 941, unemployment, IPERS, FLSA is strongly preferred as well as the ability to effectively lead and manage all aspects of the payroll function including training, guiding, and developing its team members.
