JOB FUNCTION – REQUIREMENTS – SUCCESS FACTORS:
- The Plant Accountant supports the attainment of the financial objectives of the business, which includes’ the preparation of the financial statements, the analysis of the company’s performance, and a focus on profitability through partnering with Operations to improve efficiencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Supports the business objectives through the interpretation of financial information, as well as recommending strategic business alternatives to meet the company’s business and financial goals.
- Responsible for all aspects of the accounting of fixed assets, which includes the tracking of fixed assets, depreciation of fixed assets, and disposal of them.
- Assist in month end closing activities, which includes production costing, inventory valuation, and financial reporting.
- Determine cash requirements and maintain appropriate cash flow.
- Assist with the maintaining and updating of the company’s financial forecasts and models.
- Ensure cost accounting aspects of the business are reported accurately and analyze trends as needed with an understanding of standard cost routings.
- Assist in ensuring company policies as they relate to fixed assets are strictly followed. Improve current policies and/or enhance current policies as they relate to fixed assets.
- Perform monthly account and bank reconciliations.
- Establish procedures to accomplish the procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.
- Ability to create ad-hoc reports out of the ERP accounting system.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from a 4-year college or university
- 5+ years’ experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment
- CPA certification is preferred but not required
- Detailed and comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and teamwork at all levels of the manufacturing staff as well as customers, both internal and external.
- Organization, prioritization, writing and verbal skills.
- Project management skills and/or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Mostly an office environment, however, some exposure to a plant environment with outside conditions, high temperature, some chemicals, noise, vibration and dust that may require personal protective equipment.
