Deputy Director

Position located in Shenandoah Iowa


This is an administrative, full-time position in the direction of day-to-day operations of Low-Rent Housing Programs, under the jurisdiction of the Housing Authority and involves responsibility and carrying out the intentions of the Executive Director.  Work involves the preparation and review of budgets, financial statements, reports, public relation, resident relations, and the supervision of employees, in the Executive Director’s absence. WORKS UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.



  • Must have knowledge of management principles and practices.  Must have the ability to carry out long-range plans and programs and to make sound decisions in the operations of Low Rent Housing.
  • Should have a good knowledge of maintenance procedures and practices.
  • A good working knowledge of local, county, state and federal regulations pertaining to housing, building, sanitation and administration.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with city and federal officials and the general public.
  • Have a knowledge of functions and services of various city, county, state and federal assistance programs for low-income families, the elderly, disabled and handicapped.
  • Effectively instruct and supervise personnel, in the Executive Director’s absence.



Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four year college or university with an emphasis in business administration or a related field and communication; or comparable business experience and or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
